Lands End (California Coastal Trail) to Mile Rock Beach

Why we love it: So much beauty for so little effort! Gorgeous views of the coast and Golden Gate Bridge and a beach perfect for a day of play.

For the Young Ones (0-10): Our Little Miss had no trouble walking the entire approx. 3 miles, broken up by beach time playing in the sand. There are several stairs, especially down to the beach so you will want to keep a close eye. There are also lots of people on this trail, so don’t let them stray.

For the Big Kids (10+): Wave jumping! Easy stroll to enjoy the sand and surf.

Keep in Mind:

  • Parking fills up fast but there are multiple places you can park, including street parking. We parked at 680 Point Lobos Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94121.
  • There are no bathrooms down at the beach, so make sure to go at the public bathrooms at the trailhead.

Around the Area: It’s San Francisco! We packed lunches to have at the beach, but you’re right in the city so there are plenty of other options for food and fun.

Difficulty Level: Beginner.
