Little Yosemite

Why we love it: Taking the Canyon View Trail from the Visitor’s Center (make sure to grab a map!) is a fun and interesting route (see my Reel on Instagram), and taking the Camp Ohlone Road back via the parking lots made an easy finish to a day scrambling on the river rocks.

For the Young Ones (0-10): Young ones should only do this hike if they have footwear with grip and won’t make you nervous along the narrower parts on a steep hillside.

For the Big Kids (10+): For this hike, big kids and adventurous adults will love rock scrambling over the water!

Keep in Mind:

  • The Canyon View Trail is mostly exposed and as more people get on the trails throughout the day, there can be bottlenecks.
  • When we were rock scrambling a few huge groups came to play and children were not all well supervised – make sure you keep an eye on everyone in your group for the safety and the safety of others.
  • No cell coverage! I didn’t track our distance, but from the map I guesstimated this loop is approximately 3 miles.

Around the Area: We couldn’t resist heading over to Pleasanton for cocktails, paella, and dessert at Oyo.

Difficulty Level: Beginner-Moderate
